Boyd Cody Architects is a design led practice that began as a partnership formed in 1997 in New York.

The two directors, Dermot Boyd and Peter Cody, studied together graduating from the Dublin Institute of Technology in 1990. Subsequently both spent time in Europe and the United States gaining valuable academic and professional experience, before returning to Ireland. Boyd Cody Architects Ltd. was established in 2000.

Since its foundation, Boyd Cody Architects has received numerous notable awards, including first place in the Monaghan Civic Offices competition in 2002. In 2005 the practice was awarded the prestigious AAI Downes Medal for excellence in architectural design. In 2006 Boyd Cody Architects was short-listed for the Young Architect of the Year award in the UK and received an honourable mention in the AR Awards for Emerging Architecture. Their work has also been widely published and exhibited in Ireland and abroad. In 2006, Boyd Cody Architects featured in the Venice Architectural Biennale, the Lisbon Triennale in 2007, “Rebuilding the Republic” exhibition, Leuven, Belgium in 2010 and most recently in “Nine Architects - Nine Propositions to Live” in Heyères, France. Throughout this period both partners have maintained teaching roles, Dermot currently teaches at DIT and Peter teaches at UCD.
